Thank you for taking pride in your Iranian identity. As Iranians abroad, many of us have undergone identity crises. Today, however, the Iranian Diaspora community is beginning to forge a balance between their Iranian identity and their adopted home.
IranRepresent.com and its designs seek to further that cause. In the fall of 2003, We made the Irani design, the first design on IranRepresent.com, to support the Iranian identity. By wearing the shirt, we made a statement to fellow Iranians, “If we are not embarrassed of being Iranians, nor should you be.” Moreover, we were also making a statement to non-Iranians: “We have a presence on this land and we are not embarrassed of where we come from, no matter what you associate with Iran.”
Iranian civilization has a history dating back to 4,000 B.C.E. (some scholars date it further back), and no single incident, policy, government or administration has the power to reduce and confine that history and identity to something to which we should be embarrassed. To clarify, the logos on IranRepresent.com do not purport to say that Iranians are superior to anyone else. It does, however, proclaim that we are no less than anyone either.
Wear the shirts with pride and remember the best way to show your love for Iran is to give love as an Iranian!
